If you’re looking for a homeowner, start with the neighbors and a call to Information, as these will be the most convenient options. No luck there? Then give the online resources a try, since you can use these from your computer or smartphone. If you still get nowhere, then it’s time to break out the big guns, which means going to the offices for records or property taxes.
While there are a number of ways that you can determine who owns a property, these are some of the most common and effective ways to do it:
1. Searching Public Records:
Get Information From The County Tax Assessor:
The county tax assessor will always know who owns a property, and this information is part of the property owner’s public record. Therefore, you’ll be able to access it. They will even be able to give you the identity of someone who owns a vacant lot.
While you may have to visit the tax assessor in person to view this information, some counties have an online search feature that allows you to view the information. In some cases, you’ll need to go to the library to find the information in your county’s records.
Look At Property Deeds:
All property deeds are recorded, and it’s possible to view the records at the county recorder’s office. You will need to visit the office in person though. The recorder’s office is usually in the county courthouse, but it can be located elsewhere as well. You can determine where the office is located by searching for it online.
Not only do deeds show you the current owner of a property, but they show you everyone who owned the property in the past as well. This is especially important if the property in question is foreclosed. The current owner of a foreclosed property is a bank rather than an individual.
Online Property Search Tools:
There are a number of privately owned reverse address search tools that allow you to search for the owner of a property online. While you have to pay to use some services, there are others that are free. A great example of a free tool that allows you to determine the owner of a property is Freebackgroundcheck.org. This tool allows you to get detailed information about the owner of a property.
Visit City Hall:
City halls often will be able to provide you with auditor materials. Some examples of these records include census and voting records. These records will list the property owner’s name. Similar information can be found at some libraries.

You don’t have to waste a lot of time trying to search multiple websites and locations to find someone’s address because it’s all there in the member’s area. Once you are in the member’s area you can conduct unlimited searches on people, phone numbers, emails, and property addresses. All you have to do is type in some details and your search will start.
Now that I’m in the member’s area I will run a quick search on the person I am looking for and get the results.
As you can see the person I did a search on has their name (which I blurred out), age, recent and previous addresses listed. Do you see how easy that was to find this person’s recent address? Now I can also click view details and find out, even more, information about this person but most importantly their recent address on a map view. I can also view their marital status, birthday, criminal charges and more. I can also conduct a search on anyone else because the membership comes with unlimited searches.

As you can see you can conduct a background check on anyone using public records. You can check public criminal records and court cases, view phone numbers, public arrest records, bankruptcies, if they are divorced and more. Below are a few more screenshots and searches you can do.
I did a quick public record search on a person and as you can see it pulled up a ton of results such as if the person is married, if they are a home owner, date of birth, occupation, phone number, address, email address, criminal history and much more. I just wanted to show you some of it.

Pipl public record searches are pretty awesome too (just watch out for the advertisements). You can search for public records by name, username, email or phone.
I did a quick search for John Smith and Pipl came through and pulled up the results.
Now I’m going to click on one of the results just to give you an idea of what type of public records you can get.
You can see how old the person is, view a nice photo, see the person’s career, education, cities he’s lived in and people who they are associated with. If you want more in-depth information like FreeBackgroundCheck.org gives then you will have to pay. As you can see the personal info, online photos, social profiles, and contact info is “sponsored”. But not bad at all for a free public records search.
With Spydialer you can do a reverse phone check, email address lookup, address search and people lookup. The results are pretty basic and mostly lead to sponsored results but it does provide some useful results for free such as email, address, and phone searches. You won’t find any in-depth information but you can get basic results for free but you are limited to how many searches you can perform. Also, pretty cool feature is you can hear a person’s voicemail without having to call the phone yourself.
Search by phone, people, address or email. In this case, we’re going to search for people to give you an idea of what you’re working with.
So now you have to choose the person you’re searching for by a basic location. So if you have more than one person with the same name in the city you’re searching for then this is going to be a lot harder to figure out. So now I clicked on one of the results and I’m then led to some sponsored results on the side (I cut the ads out on this screenshot) and then a basic address, some possible relatives and a link to spydial the phone number.
Now I clicked to spydial the phone number and I get to hear the person’s voicemail. Pretty cool.
2.) Government Resources
All in all the people search is pretty useless. However their phone number search, email and address search are much more worthy of your time.
PACER allows anyone with an account to search and locate appellate, district, and bankruptcy court case and docket information using PACER Case Locator.

It’s easy to do a Google search for these type of websites. Just type in your city or county and type in the type of records you’re looking for after that. You will then be shown a list of your local resources that are available.
So, you want to find out where someone lives huh. That’s all too common these days. Maybe you are trying to get ahold of an old friend or an ex that you lost contact with over the years. Either way, you need to find out someone’s address.
You have a few ways that you can find a person’s address and where they are currently living.
1.) Public Record Databases
You can find out where someone is living at by visiting FreeBackgroundCheck.org and typing in the information you have. If you have their name then search for their address by name, if you have a cell phone number then you can also find out where they live by their phone number.
You’ll see a search box like this.
It’s much easier to find out where someone is currently living by searching their name and or by cell phone number. So go ahead and type that in the search box and you’ll see some results we have. Choose the location and possible relatives of the person. Then you’ll need to pay a few dollars to become a member. Once you’re a member then you can easily find out where the person is living at.
You can also view more information about the person too. You can see the person’s phone number, criminal records, current address, date of birth and much more.
Accessing public record databases to find out where someone lives at is one of the best ways.
2.) Find a Person’s Address by IP
Here is a video of a pretty sneaky but legit way to find out where someone lives by their IP address. There are also many other reverse ip address lookup sites that will help show a general location of a person but that video that I linked to will give you an exact location most of the time.
So you want to find out who the owner of a property is don’t worry you can conduct a totally free reverse address lookup online right now. Whether the property is residential or commercial you can find out who owns a property by doing a simple Google search. So if you have questions like “Who lived at this address?” “How can I do a property search by someone’s name?” “How can I find the history of my house address?” We can help you answer these questions.
1.) Local Assessor Offices
Bam! All these properties must pay property taxes, so when you conduct a local property assessor search you can find the assessors office and search by parcel number and or address to find out who the deeded owner of the property is.
So, for instance, say I want to find the owner of a property in Marion County Indiana. I could do a search in Google for “Marion County Indiana Property Assessors” “Marion County Property Records Assessors Office” or “Marion County Indiana Assessors Office”
Doing this search will provide me with the Government office that handles property taxes but what I really want to know is…. who the owner of the property is.
Once I click on the Assessor office page I will get something like this…
But what I want is the property records to show ownership of a property I want to know about. Typically I can find these records by clicking “Tax Information” “Property Record Cards” “Property Tax Information” “Property Records” if you have trouble just give them a call and I’m sure they can point you in the right direction. In our example, the property records are under “Property Record Cards”.
Once I click “Property Record Cards” I will be shown a page like this.
As you can see I can search by parcel number, by the owner’s name, and by the address. This is a sure fire way to do a reverse address lookup without paying a dime. All you have to do is find the property assessors office page and gain access to their property tax records search.
2.) WhitePages Reverse Address Lookup
Sometimes you just need to quickly find out who lives at a residence and you can easily do that with the Whitepages address lookup tool. The Whitepages has a huge database of property owners and people who live at an address and you can look them up for free. They do have up to date information on property ownership so it’s worth a shot. Not every time you’ll get a hit and sometimes they will show you ads but for the most part, you can do an address lookup for free using the Whitepages.
Addresses.com reverse address lookup is basically the same as the Whitepages address search but a bit of a different layout when you search that I feel is more user-friendly. Either way, it’s definitely a totally free address lookup.
