Sometimes when dating a person we want to find out the truth about their previous relationships and on occasion, we want to find out if someone is still legally married. Well, don’t worry I am going to provide you with some resources that will help you find out if someone is married or divorced. You can also run a in-depth record search on a person too.
Alabama Marriage Certificates – The Alabama Center for Health Statistics began filing marriage certificates in 1936 for marriages that occurred in Alabama. (Information for marriages prior to 1936 must be obtained from the probate office in the county where the marriage license was issued.) By Alabama law, marriage certificates are unrestricted. They may be requested by anyone who can provide enough information to search for the record and submit payment of the proper fee.

Arizona Department of Health Services – Marriage and divorce records in Arizona are maintained by the Clerk of the Superior Court in the county where the event occurred.
Arkansas Marriage Records – Learn how to order a marriage record in Arkansas, find out who can make the request and the cost of obtaining a copy.
California Department of Health – Information on how to obtain certified copies of marriage and divorce records in the State of California. You will have no problem finding out if someone got divorced or if someone is still married.
Colorado State Archives Marriage Records – Colorado State Archives holds some, but not all, old marriage certificates for the State of Colorado. As a rule of thumb, if you got married after 1960, State Archives most likely does not have your marriage certificate. You should start your search in the Clerk & Recorder’s office for the county in which you got married.
Connecticut Department of Public Health – Vital Records offices are located in each of the 169 towns in Connecticut. The vital records registrar in each town is responsible for maintaining a registry of all births, marriages, civil unions, deaths and fetal deaths that occur within its town. Idaho Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics – The Bureau maintains marriage and divorce records filed from May 1947 to the present. Some counties may have older birth, death, marriage, or divorce records in their files, but county files contain only records of vital events that occurred in that county.

Kentucky Marriage and Divorce Certificates – The Vital Statistics office has on file marriage certificates from June 1958 to the present. New Hampshire Vital Records Administration – The “New Hampshire Vital Records Information Network web” (NHVRINweb), is a real-time web-based data query system for accessing Vital Records statistical data. This makes it easier to access New Hampshire marriage records online.

New Mexico Vital Records – Information on how to obtain marriage records and divorce decrees in New Mexico.
New York Marriage Records – The New York State Vital Records website provides information for marriage licenses issued in New York State outside of New York City. Also on file are divorce records for all of New York State since 1963.

North Carolina Vital Records – Order a marriage certificate online by visiting this website. Marriage certificates also may be obtained at the Register of Deeds (ROD) office in the county where the event took place.
North Dakota Marriage Record – How to order a certified copy of a marriage record in North Dakota. Effective, January 1, 2008, all certified copies of marriage records must be issued by the county where the license was originally purchased and filed.
Ohio Marriage and Divorce Records – The Office of Vital Statistics maintains the index of marriages that occurred in Ohio from January 1, 1950 to present and divorces that occurred in Ohio from January 1, 1954 to present. The service provided by our office is to search for limited information from marriage and divorce abstracts.
Oklahoma Vital Records – Order a marriage record online with VitalCheck. You may also visit the county clerk where the marriage took place to get a record of a marriage.
Oregon Vital Records – Information about vital records. To gain access to marriage records in Oregon you will need to contact the county clerk’s office in the county where the marriage was performed.
Pennsylvania Marriage and Divorce Certificates – Marriage and divorce certificates filed in Pennsylvania are not available from the Division of Vital Records. These certificates are usually obtained from the courthouse in the county where the marriage license was issued or divorce decree was granted. South Carolina Marriage Records – Records are available for marriages between July 1950 and December 2014. For marriage records prior to or after these dates, you will need to contact the Probate Court that originally issued the marriage license. List of Probate Courts.

Tennessee Marriage Records – Information on how to find marriage records in Tennessee.
Texas Marriage and Divorce Verification – You can receive a verification letter of a marriage or divorce. Certified copies of marriage licenses or divorce decrees are only available from the county clerk (marriage) or district clerk (divorce) in the county or district in which it was obtained.

Washington Marriage Records Access – Washington Marriage Records before 1968 are held by the County Auditor, from 1968 forward they are held by the Health Department. Great resources to find marriage records in the state of Washington.
West Virginia Marriage Records – Search for marriage records in every county in the state of West Virginia. Most marriage records are a bit older. However, you can view the Vital records office to get a copy of more recent marriage records.
Wisconsin Vital Records Services – The Wisconsin Vital Records Office is responsible for filing, preserving, protecting, changing, and issuing copies of birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, divorce certificates, and records of declaration of domestic partnership and termination of domestic partnership for events that occur in Wisconsin.
Wyoming Vital Records – Various resources to find marriage records in Wyoming. You can also access the Vital Statistics Service to get help with finding a record of a marriage.
